Logic
Aristotle is credited with the earliest study of formal logic, and his conception of it was the dominant form of Western logic until the 19th century.
His works on logic were compiled into six books: "Categories", "On Interpretation", "Prior Analytics", "Posterior Analytics", "Topics" and "On Sophistical Refutations".
Aristotle's teacher Plato also thought about logic. He developed a reasonable conception of a deducting system but could never acutally construct one.
